October brings the world such celebrations as National Dental Hygiene Month, Month of the Dinosaur, National Popcorn Month, the Sputnik Anniversary, and the ever anticipated National Magic Day. Although everyone should have a day to be a magician, these occasions do not have people jumping for joy like Filipino American History Month! Filipinos have their own month? Better believe it!
With over four hundred years of history in the United States, FIND D7 joins millions of Filipinos in commemorating the rich history of Filipinos in America and in the Philippines. Since schools do not take the time to teach the history of Filipinos, FIND D7 accepts the responsibility to be an ambassador of Filipino education. October welcomes participants to learn about a people, their struggles, their successes, and the concerns that are shaping the future of the Filipino community.
WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL DOING THIS MONTH??
WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS MONTH??

We're doing a lot of fun but also thought-provoking activities here at W&M.
For our general meeting we discussed geography and had a map on Paint and we put a little colored dot over where our families come from in the Philippines. It seems like everyone is from Manila!
This month W&M is hosting General Antonio Taguba. The second highest ranking Filipino-American officer in the military. He was in charge of the investigation into the abuses in Iraq.

hey i dont know if you all are aware of this, but Virginia Beach's public access has a Fil Am TV program, check it out!
Our Tony Taguba event was a success! We had about 100 people come out, from students to professors to other members of the community, and lots of people stayed afterwards for the Q&A and reception. Bonus - we were on the front page of our student newspaper, the Flat Hat!
So good times for FASA helping to educate the rest of the W&M community too :)
